Welcoming new starters to our GCS Marine team

To support the rapid growth of our Marine business and demonstrate our continued investment in our capability, we have recently made five key appointments to the GCS Marine team.

Ian Rose joins Aviva as Underwriting Manager for the Retail Marine portfolio. He joins from TT Club, where he was responsible for a book of Global Cargo and Freight Liability business for club members. He has also worked at CNA and QBE.

Inga Flanagan will join the same team as a Senior Underwriter. Inga has spent the last 11 years working in Norway as Cargo Underwriter for Gjensidige and prior to that worked for Chubb in the UK and AIG in Norway and Sweden.

Eliza Duffy has joined our Fine Art and Specie team as a Senior Underwriter. Eliza joins us from Fidelis and before that she was responsible for broking Fine Art and Specie business for Marsh JLT.

Richard Grant also joins Aviva from Zurich on 1 February next year as a Senior Underwriter within our Wholesale team.

Finally, Doug Ruggles in the Marine Wholesale team has been promoted to the role of Underwriting Manager for the Wholesale Marine portfolio. Doug has been with Aviva for two years and will continue to work with his colleagues to build out Aviva’s London market marine proposition. We warmly congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion.

This takes our Marine underwriting team to eight. All new appointments will report into Howard Potter, Head of Marine.

Aviva has also appointed Kerry Howe as Head of Property, reporting to Marc Wanless, Head of Corporate Lines, and will start with us at the end of April 2024.

Kerry will join us from AXA where she was most recently Head of International Property.

Kerry has over 35 years of Global Property underwriting experience and an extensive knowledge of the London market, making her a strong addition to Aviva’s Property team.

“I am delighted that Kerry is joining our dynamic leadership team. Kerry brings with her not only a wealth of experience that will help us evolve our portfolio, but she is also a proven culture carrier, allowing us to attract and retain the best talent as we continue to build an inclusive, diverse and values-driven business that people are excited to work for.”
